Abstract

The size frequency distribution, length-weight relationship, condition and relative condition factor of 994 specimens of Pomadasys hasta, collected from The Sundarban ecosystem, Bangladesh were studied dunng January. March and July 2001 are presented. The size frequency distribution shows that the fishes of 5.5 - ",5cm size groups are dominant during those sampling seasons. The total length-weight relationships were established as LogW=- l .331+2.68 LogTL or W= 0.0467' 65 .This equation showed that the general length-weight relationship in P. hasta follows the cube law. The mean values of condition factor (K) and relative condition factor (K„) were found to be 0.018 ± 0.0037 and 0.610 ± 0.7973 respectively.
