Temporal, spatial, variation, nutrient, Meghna estuaryAbstract
An investigation on variation (temporal and spatial) in the contents of some selected inorganic nutrients (nitrite, nitrate, ammonium, phosphate and silicate) was carried out in the lower Meghna river estuary, Bangladesh during September 2001 to May 2002 (covering an annual cycle). All the nutrients studied showed irregular pattern of temporal and spatial fluctuations where most of the nutrients showed peak values during premonsoon and trough values during monsoon. A decreasing trend in nutrient concentrations was observed towards the sea in all the seasons.
