Special Issue: "Soil, Water and Environmental Resilience under a Changing Climate"
The special issue entitled "Soil, Water and Environmental Resilience under a
Changing Climate" is highly consistent with the aims and scope of Khulna University Studies
(KU Studies). As a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed international journal, KU Studies publishes
high-quality research across the life sciences, engineering and technology, social sciences, and
related disciplines, with a strong emphasis on research addressing issues of national and global
importance. Climate change is one of the most pressing global challenges, significantly affecting
soil health, water resources, ecosystem services, food security, biodiversity, and sustainable
livelihoods. Building resilience in soil, water, and environmental systems requires integrated
research that combines natural sciences, engineering, agriculture, environmental management,
economics, policy, and social sciences. The theme of this special issue therefore reflects the
multidisciplinary philosophy of KU Studies and promotes innovative research that bridges
disciplinary boundaries.
The special issue is particularly relevant to Bangladesh and other climate-vulnerable
regions, where coastal ecosystems, agriculture, freshwater resources, and human well-being are
increasingly threatened by sea-level rise, salinity intrusion, extreme weather events, pollution, and
land degradation. It provides an important platform for disseminating research on climate
adaptation, sustainable resource management, ecosystem restoration, environmental pollution,
nature-based solutions, and resilient agricultural systems that can inform both scientific
advancement and evidence-based policymaking.
Moreover, the publication of this special issue aligns with KU Studies' policy of publishing
thematic issues on emerging scientific topics and conference-based research that contribute to
solving contemporary environmental and societal challenges. By bringing together researchers
from diverse disciplines, the special issue will foster national and international collaboration,
